The Lady or The Tiger?

Yesterday our class read the short story, The Lady or The Tiger? And to sum it up a man was caught dating the kings daughter, so the king put the man on trial. There were 2 doors, one with a lady and one with a tiger and it was complete chance that the man would live. The kings daughter knew which one the tiger was in and signaled the man to go in the right door. And then the story ends there. Yep, it just ends. We never get to find out if he lives or dies, so my class decided to make our own endings! Here’s mine..

Everyone was silent. You could only hear the sound of breathing as the man walked to the door on the right. As he walked over you could hear the crunch of gravel under his feet from the top of the stadium. He walked up to the door and took a deep breath. He grabbed the door handle, it was brown and aged. The large metal door creaked open, the inside having dozens of animal skins so no sound or light creeps through. He peeked inside, and came eye to eye with a tiger. Within an instant the tiger pounced on him, crushing his rib cage. He gasped for breath, realizing this was his demise. But, he wasn’t going to die without a fight, without honor. With all the strength he had left he pushed the tiger off of him, punching it square in the lungs. The tiger was surprised and jumped off of the man. The man jumped up and looked at his chest. It was bloody, and crushed, but he was still alive so it could’ve been worse he thought. He looked up at the stadium, people were in shock, nobody had the strength to attack the tiger before. Even the king was in shock. The man slowly backed up to where the king was, setting up a plan. He turned and ran, the tiger swiftly followed after. Just before he could make it the tiger punched on him again, and this time scratched his left hand. He screamed in agony, but had to keep going. With his right hand he mustered up the strength to land a blow on the tiger’s face, forcing the tiger to jump back in pain. He got to the wall and he was cornered. Exactly what he wanted. He ripped off part of his robe and held it out. He couldn’t mess up or he would die. The tiger jumped for the man, but at that moment the man moved to the left and covered the tiger’s face with the ripped off part of the robe. The tiger crashed into the wall and the man, with his quick thinking, jumped on top of the tiger and climbed over the wall. The tiger roared in anger, pain, and confusion and frantically pawed at its face to get the robe off. The man got up and groaned in pain. He was bleeding everywhere. The crowd went wild. They were screaming, yelling, cheering, booing, throwing flowers, throwing rotten fruit, and there were mixed emotions everywhere. When the tiger got the robe off the man could see it’s blood stained face. The tiger tried to jump up the wall but failed and fell on its back. It tried many more times but ended up giving up. Unfortunately, although the man survived at first, he sustained critical injuries and he ended up bleeding out in someone’s home while they were caring for him.
